Converse links with Liverpool FC for limited edition capsule

According to US sports/leisure footwear brand Converse, collaborations are all about expanding the game for a new generation of fans. So the Nike-owned brand has partnered up with English Premiership team Liverpool FC for the first time to unveil a limited-edition lifestyle capsule collection.

Aiming to celebrate the “creativity and diversity of the club’s supporters”, the nine-piece collection comes dual-branded with LFC and Converse logos. Two standouts are the Chuck 70 high-top sneakers, covered with Liver birds, sea holly (the county flower of Liverpool) and YNWA (the Liverpool supporters' anthem is ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone'), and a woven heritage varsity jacket, with references to the winning 1984 European Cup final ticket. 

The collection also includes a bucket hat, Run Star Hike sneakers, a polo shirt, a T-shirt, shorts and a tracksuit top and bottoms. 

And that connection with the fans is essential, according to the team’s key defender Andy Robertson. “The city as a whole is very accepting of everyone with different backgrounds, people brought up in different ways. We see that day to day with our club staff, and we see it week to week with the fans coming through the turnstiles. As a city, it’s amazing what they do, but as a club, they’ve followed in the footsteps. Liverpool is open to everyone.”
