Change at the top for Condé Nast: The publisher of Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ and Glamour has finally appointed its new CEO. It has named Roger Lynch to the top role, in charge of heading Condé Nast US and Condé Nast International, which merged in November. The operation saw the departures of the American and international subsidiary chiefs, Bob Sauerberg and Jonathan Newhouse. A member of the family that owns Condé Nast, Newhouse will become the chairman of the board of directors. He is also on the board of Vestiaire Collective and of anti-plagiarism software company Turnitin.

“I’m excited to lead the board of directors of Condé Nast as it enters the next stage of its evolution as a modern media company,” said Jonathan Newhouse. “I leave Condé Nast International as a thriving business within a powerful, global organization led by the accomplished Roger Lynch."

Lynch will take up his new role on April 22 and will be based in New York. Previously, he has served in managerial positions in the media including a five-year stint as the head of Sling TV, which he founded, and a year as CEO of the US' leading music streaming and radio services company Pandora, until February 2019.

Lynch was selected for the role in light of his combined experience in the media and new technologies. Condé Nast, which is present in 30 markets, has set itself the goal of reaching 1 billion consumers worldwide. As the global press undergoes a major transformational shift, and as the group has ceased publication of a number of its paper editions in the US (including Glamour, Teen Vogue and Self), the company is betting big on digital and the globalization of its content. In 2017, Condé Nast established an international hub for Vogue. From its headquarters in London, the hub provides content to be shared across the international editions of the magazine.
