Baselworld -- the watchmaking industry's most important trade fair of the year -- is currently underway in Basel, Switzerland, with each day bringing new innovations and trends. Chanel has presented several watches at the show, with additions to the label's most emblematic collections. And for this year, the focus is firmly on beige gold.

The French fashion and jewelry house has added to its iconic watch collections -- including "Première" and "Les Eternelles de Chanel" ranges -- with exceptional models that draw on jewelry design, watchmaking expertise and couture. This year, a key trend in Chanel's creations is beige gold, used in a majority of the new models presented at the Baselworld trade fair.

The firm has already released timepieces with designs incorporating beige gold, an alloy exclusive to Chanel. Now, the luxury label is bringing this new shade of 18-karat gold to a host of watches for 2016.

In fact, the French luxury brand has unveiled beige gold models in four collections: Boy.Friend, Mademoiselle Privé, Première Flying Tourbillon and Monsieur de Chanel, with the brand's first men's watch developed entirely in-house.

Bringing masculine style to a women's watch

Among the four new Boy.Friend watches unveiled at the Basel event, Chanel presented "Boy.Friend Diamonds," with an 18-karat beige gold case. This most masculine of the firm's women's watches also gets an 18-karat beige gold bezel set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds, an 18-karat beige gold crown set with seven brilliant-cut diamonds, and an 18-karat beige gold clasp set with 48 brilliant cut diamonds. A white gold version is also available.

The "Mademoiselle Privé" collection was enriched with several new "Mademoiselle Privé Coromandel Oiseau Vibrant" watches, bringing a decorative miniature and an 18-karat beige gold fluttering bird to the dial, crafted in sculpted gold. Each of the models has an 18-karat beige gold case with snow-set diamonds. The hands, hand-engraved case-back and clasp are finished in 18-karat beige gold too.

Beige gold in a men's watch

Chanel has also brought beige gold to its first men's watch developed entirely in-house. This "Monsieur de Chanel" timepiece uses a manual-winding mechanical movement and has two complications -- jumping hours and 240-degree retrograde minutes. This model has an 18-karat beige gold case, crown and hands.

A final timepiece to use this exclusive alloy, "Première Flying Tourbillon," gets an 18-karat beige gold case set with 47 baguette-cut diamonds, an 18-karat beige gold bezel set with 42 baguette-cut diamonds and 52 brilliant-cut diamonds, and an 18-karat beige gold crown and clasp, also set with diamonds.
