Celtic & Co revenues soar in lockdown

Published
Mar 4, 2021

UK fashion and homewares retailer Celtic & Co looks to be yet another company whose decision to pivot towards digital sales paid dividends during the pandemic.

Celtic & Co

The Cornish company saw full-year sales leap 75% to £15.5 million, and increased by around 80% on a year ago during the autumn/winter 2020 season, as Covid lockdowns prompted the shift to shopping online shopping and demand for comfort wear.

Both footwear and clothing categories made significant gains year-on-year, it noted, with demand for its locally-produced, hand-made sheepskin footwear hitting record levels.

Direct sales also improved to more than 60 countries, significantly increasing sales in key geographical territories including the UK, US, Germany, Canada and Australia.

That pushed International sales up to over 31% of total sales in 2020 as they grew by 88% year-on-year to £4.9 million.

Nick Whitworth, co-founder of Celtic & Co, said: “Our strategy is to focus on a wide range of markets and opportunities to ensure we are not over-reliant on one market or territory.

“A key part of this strategy is international growth. We will be targeting a further 20% increase in net sales and increased profitability in 2021”.
