Björn Borg posts 23% rise in Q2 sales

Published
Aug 19, 2016

Swedish fashion and sportswear brand Björn Borg posted a 23.2% increase in group net sales in the second quarter, up to SEK 122.2m.

Operating profit in the period amounted to SEK 0.3m, against a year-earlier loss of SEK 1.7m, and loss after tax was SEK 2.2m, against a year-earlier loss of SEK 2.3m.

Björn Borg also released its figures for the first half of the year, when it said net sales increased by 21.7% to SEK 280.2m. Operating profit in the period amounted to SEK 14.2m and profit after tax amounted to SEK 4.3m.

“During the quarter we strengthened our position as planned in sports and sports apparel, especially in our male target market. In one of our consumer surveys, 25 percent of respondents said they would buy athletic apparel from us, and in both the Netherlands and Norway we ranked fourth among men. We succeeded at the same time in maintaining our strong position in men’s underwear, where we remain number 1 in all our priority markets,” said CEO Henrik Bunge.

Earlier this year, the brand released a special anniversary collection to celebrate its founder, Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg's, 60th birthday. Called "The Achromatic Collection", it's an all-white line of exclusive contemporary tennis apparel, bags and shoes.
