Beautystack, a London-based booking app for beauty services has raised £4 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures.

It builds on £700k pre-seed funding led by LocalGlobe last year, and the firm also counts with David Rowan (former editor-in-chief of Wired UK), Julien Codorniou (vice president of Workplace by Facebook) and Audrey Gelman (CEO of women’s coworking space The Wing) as angel investors.

Founded in 2017 by former salon owner Sharmadean Reid, Beautystack combines the connectedness of a social media network, allowing users to share photos of their latest beauty treatments and read editorial content, with the functionalities of a booking app.

“Girls see millions of images of beauty treatments on social media and have no idea about who did it, how much it cost or what it even is. We want to close the loop on the journey of seeing what you want, liking it and booking it. With Beautystack we use visual menus so you can search and book what you like,” Reid told TrechCrunch.

“I want to turn the beauty professionals into the next beauty influencers and have them earning salaries comparable to beauty bloggers. They always have been influential, but now we want to push them to the forefront,” she added.

The funding will be used to expand the company’s London-based team.
