Barneys New York and the CFDA have announced the launch of a special collaboration collection named Made in New York, featuring New York-based designers and manufacturers. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the limited-edition collection will go to the Fashion Manufacturing Initiative, a program of the CFDA that is in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

The Made in New York collection features black, white, grey and red women’s clothing and accessories from New York-based CFDA designers, Altuzarra, Narciso Rodriguez, Proenza Schouler and The Row, as well as men’s and women’s pieces by R13, Rag & Bone, and Thom Browne. The designers were paired with local manufacturers to help bring global awareness to the fashion industry in New York.

“We are a New York-based company, and the rich history of this city is deeply ingrained in our DNA. We feel a certain sense of pride in highlighting an industry that is still very much alive in New York,” said Barneys COO Daniella Vitale. “We have an obligation to the City of New York and to our design community to support the revival of local production and manufacturing. We also understand the positive impact that this will have on job creation for people wishing to enter into this field.”

The Made in New York collection will be carried exclusively at Barneys and is available now on the Barneys website.
