The high tech fabrics' event was launched last September within the Texworld trade show. In February 2017 it will change skin and broaden its horizons, becoming a "marketplace" and a "living space".

The event will split up in six main focus areas. First of all it will widen its listing, to include raw materials and components, finished goods, manufacturing services and technology, and products and services dedicated to distribution and communications.

To complete the offering, the event will also feature its own hub for conferences and round-table talks. The latter will draw extensively on the know-how of the Man-Made Fibers Institute in Dornbirn, Austria, with which the event organiser Messe Frankfurt France set up a partnership earlier in the year.

Avantex will also host an innovation forum, approaching the future of textile technology from three angles: the consumer's, that of retailers and brands, and that of apparel and fabrics. A fashion show will bring to life the technologies on display, and experiential workshops will enable participants to interact on the genuine issues behind the new proposals. Finally, five prizes will be awarded to innovative textile start-ups, four of them by a jury consisting of professionals, and another by the general public.
