Asos new CFO to join from drinks industry next year

Asos had a big announcement on Tuesday with news of its next chief financial officer. That may not seem like the most exciting story compared to company results, designer changes or product launches, but the CFO is a key member of any senior team and the impact of this particular executive role can be crucial for any company.

So who has the company appointed? Mathew Dunn will be its new CFO and will join the main board of the company next spring. The exact date on which he’s to join will be announced later as his notice period runs until next April.

It’s interesting that Dunn doesn't have direct fashion retail experience having held a variety of senior management positions in the drinks sector, including at SABMiller plc and most recently as CFO of Britvic.

But Asos CEO Nick Beighton said that “he brings us a totally relevant mix of operational experience together with a history of implementing and overseeing finance systems at an international level.”

He certainly joins a company that's on a roll with Asos only last week announcing surging sales and profits rising even faster as it shrugged off the weakness affecting the UK market at the moment and also drove powerful growth abroad.
