The board of directors of Adolfo Domínguez has unanimously appointed Adriana Domínguez to the role of CEO of the fashion group, according to Spain’s National Securities Market Commission.
The appointment comes 10 months after the executive effectively assumed direction of the company. During this time, the business accelerated its development and restructuring process, according to a statement.
During Adolfo Domínguez’s latest financial year, already under the supervision of its new CEO, the company increased its EBITDA by 75 per cent.
She has served as an executive director since July 2017, and has been linked to the company for 18 years.
Last year, she helped to boost the group’s international store network optimisation strategy and led initiatives to reconnect that brand with its target audience through marketing campaigns such as #yonosoyadolfo and #estonoesunselfie, the company said.
The measures resulted in growth in key markets including Mexico, where Adolfo Domínguez has 140 stores, and the entry into new countries such as Russia and soon, Australia.
Additionally, the company has strengthened its design and e-commerce teams over the last ten months.
Online sales increased by 22.3% in the last financial year, and the company’s shares rose by 49.5%
As part of a wider strategic plan, the company has recently decided to reorganise its stable of brands including its U, AD + and Adolfo Domínguez collections under one single brand, Adolfo Domínguez.
The move, which will involve the refurbishment of 115 stores, is aimed at improving the efficiency and profitability of the company, and has prompted the launch of layoff proceedings for employees.
