Vivienne Westwood - Menswear Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 Show in Milan (interview)

Vivienne Westwood battles against the earth’s ecological problems by continuing to spread the message alongside husband Andreas Kronthaler, reflecting this struggle in the Westwood Man. Next winter, he will protect himself with a functional wardrobe inspired by the skater-boy movement. Tracksuit trousers and a hoodie become the new uniform advocated by the English label. This house never forgets its tailoring expertise on suits, reinterpreted this season in graduated colour shades and patchwork prints. Knitwear plays a part on numerous outfits, appearing refined, stretched, printed and overflowing with patterns. An upbeat style revolution that galvanises this too often conventional fashion world.Interview:Vivienne Westwood:I always just hijack my collections; I never talk about the fashion. The message at the moment is the most urgent matter that we face in England because the government is trying to push through fracking without any information except that fracking is supposed to be wonderful, which we know it is not. At this point in time, it is just so dangerous to try to do that.Andreas Kronthaler:It is a fight and you have to fight this and I think the boys should symbolize or look like protesters in the most positive and stylish sense. And then it is always a bit futuristic, about reflecting into the future which is why they have that kind of look, quite humoristic that to me is a bit 80s.Music from the show
