Grit Seymore has stepped down as creative director of Wolford citing personal reasons. Her announcement comes shortly after the luxury hosiery brand revealed it slipped into the red in the first nine months of the year.

Creative director Grit Seymore has left the business - Wolford

Seymore’s position was created in October 2014 as part of a wider strategy to reposition the brand for future development. She was responsible for designing the collections as well as providing advice on brand identity. Her first collection was released in the spring of 2016.

Before joining Wolford, Seymore worked as a designer at international brands including Donna Karan and Max Mara. She was artistic director of Daniel Hechter in the late 1990s, and then designed womenswear collections for Hugo Boss. Her CV also includes consulting for a number of brands and her own fashion line, Tape.

Her departure from the Austrian hosiery manufacturer comes shortly after the company released its financial results for the nine months and its guidance for the full year. In the nine months ended January 2017, sales dropped by 7.5% to 119 million euro, while EBIT totalled negative 4.72 million euros, compared with a profit of 2.16 million in the previous year.

As a result, the company revised its medium-term strategic planning and developed a sustainable financing structure. It expects to return to profit in the 2018/19 financial year.
