The British Fashion Council and Swarovski have added a new element to this year’s Fashion Awards, taking place in December at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

In addition to recognising the hottest names in the UK and international fashion industry, the Fashion Awards will celebrate 100 of the best and most forward-thinking innovators through the new ‘New Wave: Creatives’ category.

The list of young trailblazers will include creative directors, models, digital influencers, image-makers, stylists and more, selected by the Fashion Awards Voting Panel, whose members were asked to nominate those they believe to be the best young creative talent of today.

The winners of the ‘New Wave: Creatives’ award will be celebrated at the official Fashion Awards on Monday 10 December, but also during a series of events leading up to the ceremony in London, Shanghai and New York.

“The Fashion Awards in partnership with Swarovski is a celebration of an incredibly diverse industry; through the event we aim to shine a light not only on designers but also on all of those who contribute to the creativity and innovation of our industry. We are delighted to be launching New Wave: Creatives this year, to highlight and celebrate creatives from all around the world, to inspire new collaborations and to encourage an even younger generation to consider the many creative roles that make up the fashion industry and follow in their footsteps,” said Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC.

The list of winners will be unveiled in several events over the coming weeks. The British Fashion Council announced the first twenty names at an event in Shanghai on Monday.
