Toronto’s Startup Fashion Week (SFW) announced on Friday the expansion and launch of its event in Montreal.

The inaugural season of Montreal Startup Fashion Week will take place September 13 to 15 and will include a Media Launch/Opening Party, a Business of Fashion Conference and a Runway Show.

The event, which launched in Toronto in 2014, provides a platform for emerging designers and fashion-tech startups to increase visibility through a range of events.

“Anyone can be creative in this industry but building a sustainable business in fashion or fashion-tech is challenging and highly competitive, which is why we are continuing our efforts as a key influencer in the success of Canada’s fashion industry,” said Rashi Bindra, Executive Producer of SFW Montreal, in a news statement.

Over the last three years, Startup Fashion Week has received a consistent level of interest from guests and participants residing in Montreal, indicating that there is an audience looking to engage in the Startup Fashion Week community.

Startup Fashion Week has already helped launch and accelerate awareness for 20 emerging designers and more than 25 fashion-tech / wearable tech startups.

The Montreal event will kick off on July 29 with a Summer Preview Party.

Meanwhile, the Toronto edition will take place October 16 to the 20.
