Pigalle opens a store in Tokyo

Launched in 2008 by Stéphane Ashpool, the Pigalle brand soon opened a first boutique in rue Henri Monnier, in Paris' 9th arrondissement. It was initially a multi-brand store with a sportswear and couture vibe.

Seven years later, after being awarded the ANDAM (the French National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts) prize last summer (plus a €250,000 bonus), Pigalle has now opened its first store abroad, in Tokyo.

After installing pop-up stores inside the Gyre shopping centre in the Omotesando district, then at United Arrows & Son, Pigalle has now invested in a shop located in the Shibuya area.

The interiors mix concrete with a period veneer, rough walls and antique carpets on the floor, and showcase all of Pigalle's collections, including the basketball ones in collaboration with Nike.

Stéphane Ashpool is a basketball fanatic, and his latest collaboration with the US sports brand features shorts, a tank top, a hat and a basketball. This is a long-term collaboration: the designer already outfitted the basketball team of the local Goutte d'Or neighbourhood in Paris, had a basketball court built together with Nike, and in 2014 created a first capsule collection, notably featuring a pair of Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
