The event will exhibit the work of 55 contemporary artists and designers. The participating artists were asked to select work from an Old Master to function as their muse for a new design. The resulting work will be exhibited during Masterly The Hague next to the work of the respective Old Master.

The Masterly The Hague exposition will include works from 17th century painter Michiel van Mierevelt, couture duo Viktor & Rolf, textile designer Jan Koen Lomans and 19th century painter Jean Baptiste van der Hulst, amongst others. All designs will be set in 25 style rooms, which will be especially decorated for the occasion of the festival.

In addition to the work on view, the event will also offer visitors an opportunity to meet some of the designers and artists who created the new works. Furthermore, all the Dutch Design on view will be available for purchase.

Masterly The Hague will take place at three historical buildings, which are set at The Hague’s Hofvijfer Lake in the heart of the city center. The event is an initiative by curator Nicole Uniquole and art dealer Willem Jan Hoogsteder.

The festival will run 20-23 September 2018.
