Mansur Gavriel is one of the biggest fashion success stories of recent times, and now the brand's founders are being honored by the American Apparel & Footwear Association.

Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel have been revealed as the winners of the association's ‘Fashion Maverick' title, as part of its 2018 American Image Awards. The ceremony, which will be held on April 16 in New York and hosted by journalist and author Katie Couric, will also honor the creative Joseph Altuzarra as "Designer of the Year," Fred Segal as "Retailer of the Year," the Camuto Group as "Company of the Year" and the chairman and CEO of PVH Corp Emanuel Chirico as "Person of the Year."

"We are pleased to honor these individuals and organizations for their creativity, innovation, and business leadership," said said Rick Helfenbein, President and CEO of AAFA, in a statement. "Each honoree is disrupting the industry with keen imagination and the ability to inspire today's consumers."

Founded in 2012 with just two products -- a bucket bag and a tote -- Mansur Gavriel has gone on to become a cult accessories brand with a reputation for instantly recognizable and highly Instagrammable ‘It' bags and leather goods. The label won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Accessory Design in 2015 and the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award in 2016, before breaking into ready-to-wear clothing last September.
