Madewell and Surfrider Foundation launch beach-inspired capsule collection

Madewell this week launched a new collaboration capsule with non-profit organization Surfrider Foundation.

The Surfrider Foundation and Madewell employees partnered to clean up beaches on the east and west coasts

Founded in 1984, Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches through a network that includes 500,000 supporters, activists and members, with over 80 volunteer-led chapters and 60 clubs in the US.

Madewell and Surfrider Foundation’s five-piece capsule consists of two t-shirts, two sunglasses and a straw tote that feature Surfrider’s mantra, “Long Live the Beach.” The grassroots organization is the latest to partner with Madewell, joining the likes of vintage studio Where I Was From, and brands Away, Solids and Bikyni that collaborated with Madewell for its third annual Getaway Shop.

“One of the most rewarding parts of being a designer at Madewell is that we are able to collaborate with partners who we find truly inspiring,” said Madewell’s head designer, Joyce Lee. “As someone who grew up on the coast of California, I’ve long been aware of the Surfrider Foundation and the work that they do to keep our beaches and oceans healthy. I feel lucky to have helped create this collection that will contribute to their mission. Here’s to many sunny beachy days ahead.”

In addition to partnering on the collection, Madewell’s east and west coast teams joined local Surfrider chapters to help clean up a beach. The Madewell team picked up 4,337 pieces of trash at Rockaway Beach.

The Madewell x Surfrider Foundation Collection is available now on the Madewell website, and prices range from $45 to $79.50.
