Leather goods brand Laimböck to relaunch

Dutch leather goods brand Laimböck announced that it is planning a relaunch. The news comes two years after the label’s parent company, Modana Accessoires BV, went bankrupt.

Ronald Vijver, co-owner and director at Laimböck, said in a press release: “It appears that the demand from the market for the high-quality gloves brand has made the step towards a comeback possible. Naturally, the experience and expertise that I have built up with this brand in the past form a solid foundation for the future.”

Laimböck’s 2016 bankruptcy was a result of the 2015 bankruptcy of Dutch department store chain V&D. The V&D bankruptcy had a great impact on many suppliers as well as brand’s operating shop-in-shops at V&D, including Laimböck, but also larger retailers such as S.Oliver, Perry Sport and Aktiesport. The latter two retailers a filed for bankruptcy themselves, which was attributed by the V&D closure and later relaunched under JD Sports. Laimböck and its label L.M.B.K. were both stocked at V&D. The brand also produced private label clothing for the department store chain.

Laimböck was founded in 1831 and offers gloves, bags and leather goods. In 2014, Laimböck launched L.M.B.K. Young, to target a younger costumer.
