As an official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival, Kering is once again for a third year in a row organizing a series of lectures on the role of women in cinema. The event, called Women in Motion, will take place during the festival program from 17 to 28 May.

The conference, which is open to journalists and film professionals, will this year address the issue of gender equality and access to the film industry for young female talent. The 2016 event drew the participation of several celebrities, including Jodie Foster, Juliette Binoche and Chloë Sevigny.

An awards ceremony will take place May 21 when Kering and the Cannes Film Festival continues the event's annual tradition of honoring the achievements of two women in film. Last year, the main prize was awarded jointly to Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon for their roles in Thelma & Louise. A second Young Talents Award will be bestowed upon a promising emerging industry talent.

The Young Talents Prize is chosen by the winner of the first category. Last year's award went to directors Leyla Bouzid, Gaya Jiji and Ida Panahandeh, who received a 50,000 euro grant to support their cinematographic projects.
