The designer, who specialises in high-end outerwear for a country lifestyle, focuses particularly on made-in-Britain tweeds and this has won her a following that includes David Beckham, Jodie Kidd and Zara Phillips.

The expanded Harrods concession now covers 1,200 sq ft and stocks the full brand line-up, including the pieces made from Scottish tweeds that are manufactured in Suffolk, as well as a number of casual separates that are made abroad.

The flagship meanwhile, is on the high-end Mulltrees walk in Edinburgh with the company saying it will be the first stage of a franchise store rollout in both the UK and Europe. The new store covers 2,000 sq ft and will see Holland Cooper competing for passing trade with major global brands including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger and Mulberry.

The designer said this week: "Since I started the business I dreamt of having our first flagship store in Edinburgh – it is a dream come true for this to come to fruition so soon."

The store will open in the last week of October 2017 and will by operated by the firm’s first-ever franchisees Murray Alexander and Nadia Cunningham who are currently recruiting staff for the store.

Holland Cooper started her business at the age of 21 in 2008 after turning down unconditional offers at LCF and Central St Martins and choosing to go to agricultural college instead. She said: “There was simply nothing to wear to country events with any style or individuality, so I set about creating my own."
