Igedo Company and Messe Düsseldorf part ways

Published
Jul 17, 2017

Trade fairs organiser Igedo Company has cut its ties with its parent company Messe Düsseldorf and Messe Düsseldorf Moscow COO will take over management of fashion fair Collection Premiere Moscow (CPM), announced the companies this week.

Philipp Kronen and Thomas Stenzel - IGEDO/Messe Düsseldorf

The announcement was made following an approval from the Messe Düsseldorf board of directors. All shares in Igedo owned by Messe Düsseldorf will be sold to Igedo’s second largest shareholder, Philip Kronen, returning control of the company to the Kronen family.

“On the one hand, I am pleased that Igedo Company is once again becoming a 100% family business. On the other hand, Messe Düsseldorf GmbH was and still is a great partner. However now it is important to look ahead and to successfully organise trade fairs in Düsseldorf for the clothing and footwear sector,” said Kronen about the move.

Igedo was, until now, the organiser of Collection Premiere Moscow (CPM), a fashion trade fair that brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors from Eastern Europe two times a year to showcase product across premium, accessories, underwear, childrenswear and handmade. The agreement sees management of the fair being transferred to Messe Düsseldorf Moscow COO, while Igedo will retain the footwear-focused show Gallery Shoes.

“For us, it was time to reorganise the fair concepts within the group,” said Werner M. Dornscheidt, chairman of Messe Düsseldorf’s management board. The move is in line with the group’s strategy, he added.

Thomas Stenzel, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf is also satisfied with the agreement. “In view of the fast-moving developments on the Russian market, it is only logical and therefore consequent to organise the CPM officially as a Russian event.”

This will be done in close collaboration with already established partners, especially partners of Igedo Company and Messe Düsseldorf.
