Stacey Cartwright, the deputy chairman of upmarket department store Harvey Nichols, has resigned from her position six months after a management overhaul.

She will leave her post on 30 April to focus on developing a portfolio of non-executive interests, announced the British company on Friday.

Cartwright was promoted from CEO to deputy chairman in September as part of a shake-up that also saw Daniela Rinaldi and Manju Malhotra appointed as co-chief operating officers of the group.

She joined the luxury company in 2014 as chief executive, after having spent nine years in senior financial and executive roles at Burberry.

She commented: “It has been a privilege to have led Harvey Nichols through the first stage of the brand rejuvenation over the past 4 years. The physical refurbishment of the Knightsbridge flagship store is well advanced, while the digital development of the brand has also achieved significant progress. I leave the business in the excellent hands of Daniela and Manju, and will be an admiring fan and customer going forward!”

Daniela Rinaldi and Manju Malhotra added: “We thank Stacey for her great contribution to Harvey Nichols over these last 4 years and wish her well in her new non-executive career.”

Harvey Nichols swung to a loss after the refurbishment of the Knightsbridge branch, reporting £6.7 million loss on sales of £194 million in the year to 1 April 2017.
