LeFebvre joins HBC from online retailer Stitch Fix, where she was responsible for setting strategy and merchandising direction for women’s, the company’s primary business. Prior to that, she held senior roles at Macy’s, TJX Companies and Daffy’s.

She is no stanger to the HBC-owned department store, however, having worked as a buyer and DMM at Lord & Taylor starting in 1999.

“Vanessa is a change agent with a track record of conceptualizing and building new lines of business. This, combined with her strong experience leading digitally-focused strategies and understanding of department store retailing, makes her the right person to lead Lord & Taylor into the future,” said Helena Foulkes, CEO, HBC.

“This is an exciting time to join Lord & Taylor as we evolve our model and merchandise assortment to best meet customer expectations and shopping preferences,” added LeFebvre.

Earlier this month, Hudson's Bay Co announced plans to work with investment bankers and consultants to identify deals and new measures to turn around its Lord & Taylor department store chain.

Lord & Taylor's 10 percent contribution to total retail sales at Hudson's Bay has significantly declined over previous years.

Lord & Taylor's president Liz Rodbell left Hudson's Bay at the end of April.

LeFebvre’s appointment is effective, May 22. She will report directly to Foulkes.
