H&M Kenzo collection still in plentiful supply online

H&M's website crashed yesterday as it unveiled its hotly anticipated collaboration with Kenzo but the company appeared to have dealt with many of the supply issues that have plagued previous collaborations and many items are still available online.

The website crash had been dealt with by mid-morning but while the usual shopping frenzy meant that many items appeared quickly on resale sites like eBay at inflated prices, there was plenty still available Friday on the store’s website.

Some of the standout pieces, like the £299.99 patterned maxi dress, had sold out completely but a selection of outerwear, tops, trousers and dresses could still be bought in a wide number of sizes.

In-store, the launch had seen large queues at locations globally, with some shoppers having waited in line for two days for the launch. But anecdotal reports suggested that queues were smaller than those for the Balmain collection a year ago.

The retailer has been collaborating with big name designers since 2004, when it debuted a Karl Lagerfeld collection, and has frequently alternated a strongly commercial label like Versace, Balmain or Alexander wang with a more esoteric/directional one like Marni or Kenzo.
