Gucci debuts collaboration with British artist Unskilled Worker

Gucci is continuing its celebration of artists with the announcement of its capsule collection with British artist Unskilled Worker. The collection will launch online simultaneously in Europe, the US, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, UAE and Australia, marking the first launch of its kind for the company.

 
The relationship between the Italian fashion house and Unskilled Worker began in 2015 when Creative Director Alessandro Michele explored the artist’s work on Instagram. Unskilled Worker was then invited to participate in Gucci’s No Longer/Not Yet show at the Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai.
 
The London-based artist, who’s real name is Helen Downie, is self-taught and began painting at the age of 48. She rose to fame through her Instagram account, which is a collection of expressive and atmospheric paintings.

The 40-piece collaboration collection, which launches on October 11, is comprised of the GG Marmont shoulder bag, Princetown mules, Ace sneakers, tote bags with bamboo handles, and additional ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories and silks that feature Unskilled Worker’s artwork, including portraits and floral designs.
 
In addition, the artist painted an exclusive piece for Gucci that will be available as a free download on her website and the Gucci website on October 11.
 
Prior to collaborating on this collection, Gucci launched collections with Coco Capitán, Angelina Hicks and Trouble Andrew.
