Geox soon to open a new flagship store in New York

Published
Jul 27, 2009

After a successful year in 2008 with a large increase in sales, the Italian shoemakers Geox have announced a new concept store in New York to be opened this autumn.

Geox
The new interior design for Geox

The brand is already present on Madison Avenue, Lexington Avenue and in Union Square, but from the autumn of 2009 will also be found on 34th Street with a new 600m² store. This new boutique will showcase adult and children’s collections over three floors, all within a new interior design style that will be adopted across the brand’s network.

“I am particularly happy with this new boutique, which displays the new Geox look,” stated Mario Moretti Polegato, president and founder of the brand. “This is important, because at the moment we are in a phase of redefinition of our style in homage to the heritage of Italian fashion. I know that American consumers will be sensitive to change (…) This boutique consolidates our position in the upmarket shopping region.”

This concept store is also a new step in the development of Geox in the USA. Present in the country since 2003, the brand currently has 34 own-brand boutiques. The choice of putting a fourth store in Manhattan was no accident either; starting with a specialization in breathable soles, Geox has started to establish itself in the world of fashion. They also have a starting price that the local clientele greatly appreciates, according to Mario Moretti Polegato.

“The presence of Geox in the USA is more and more relevant and Americans appreciates our products for their Italian style, their technology and the advantages they offer,” he went on to explain. “We want to make ourselves available to a greater number of consumers and 34th street is the perfect place. This opening is very important for us as it is the largest Geox store in the world. New York, the capital of shopping, is the dream location for this operation.”
