Gap launches sixth 'Best New Designers' collection with GQ

Gap launched on Tuesday its sixth and latest Best New Menswear Designers collection with GQ. This year’s collection of designers includes AMI, Kinfolk, and United Arrows & Sons.

The Gap x GQ 'Coolest Designers on the Planet' collection, featuring United Arrows & Sons, AMI, and Kinfolk - Gap

The collection departed from its ‘Best New Menswear Designers in America’ title to better accommodate this year's group of international designers, and took on the name ‘Coolest Designers on the Planet.’ In addition to the new name, this collection marks the first time the program is including international designers.

"Gap is thrilled to be representing men's fashion on a global scale with our GQ partnership this year," said Wendi Goldman, Gap Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer. "By tapping into the 'Coolest Designers on the Planet' from Paris, Tokyo and Brooklyn, we're able to bring our customers a fresh perspective on style from these emerging talents who are playing an important role in the future of menswear."

Kinfolk is the only local brand of the three, hailing from Brooklyn, while AMI is based in Paris and United Arrows & Sons is based in Tokyo. The three labels designed limited-edition capsule collections for Gap, and the brands’ respective founders will be featured in a special advertising insert in the October 2017 issue of GQ.

"We knew expanding this collaboration and taking it international would add vibrancy to the program, and this year's amazing designers certainly brought it," said GQ Editor in Chief Jim Nelson. "Now comes the best part: We can't wait to see the clothes hit Gap stores, because this year feels very special."

The Gap x GQ collection is available on the Gap website and in the US, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong and throughout Europe. Prices range from $29 to $299.
