Founded in January this year, the Fashion Council Germany (FCG) in partnership with the Berlin Senate for Economics, Technology and Research, has launched the first stage of its mentoring programme for emerging German designers.

Marina Hoermanseder and Nobi Talai are the first designers to be supported by the institution, and will be advised on their creative, production and distribution processes, as well as on their brand and media strategy.

This year’s programme includes a four month-long mentorship by industry experts and workshops, and the mentees’ participation at the Berlin showroom in Paris, which took place on September 30th.

The Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs provides the German fashion scene with €1 million in funding every year (approximately £0.7 million), of which nearly €300,000 goes directly to the promotion of new emerging talent. "Fashion is a strong economic factor for Berlin. As the economic management department, we want to strengthen the fashion industry further and emphasize the promotion of young designers," said Cornelia Yzer, Senator for Economics, Technology and Research.

The Fashion Council Germany plans to continue and expand its mentoring programme for 2016, and will release the details for its new edition in January next year.
