Amazon India’s sale event sees 5X growth in the fashion category

Seatlle based e-commerce giant Amazon’s recently concluded Great Indian sale event witnessed a 5x growth in the fashion category as clothing and accessories were the most sold items during the four day sale event.

Most top fashion brands like Marks & Spencer, Levi's, Titan, Gap, Redtape and sports goods also witnessed fivefold growth during Amazon India’s sale from August 9 to 12. Men’s shoes and apparel grew fourfold, while kids apparel, shoes, accessories, womens shoes all withnessed growth of three times, the company said in a statement.
 
The company also managed to acquire new customers with twofold growth during the sale event especially from tier 2 and 3 cities like Tinsukia, Banka, Purnia and Karbi Anglong.

“We are humbled by the response from customers to our latest Great Indian Sale, making it our biggest shopping event of 2017. Customers especially enjoyed big deals from big brands across different categories.” said Manish Tiwary, Vice President - Category Management, Amazon India.
 
The Amazon Shopping app and Prime service were the big winners during the event. Through the sale the App managed to maintain its leadership position as the most downloaded shopping app in the country, while Prime continued to be the top selling product.
