Acne Studios launches first eyewear collection

After releasing an underwear line last fall, Acne Studios has now launched its first eyewear collection. True to its sleek and functional style, the Swedish brand has paid particular attention to forms and colors in revisiting classic sunglasses. The collection was produced internally by a French optician.

"We’ve always designed glasses, but we’ve never produced them as a separate collection. For the Acne Studios Eyewear line, I wanted to introduce new models starting from designs from the past while drawing inspiration from my musical icons. It's up to customers to guess where the inspiration comes from," said artistic director Jonny Johansson in a statement.

The brand is offering eight models of sunglasses, "with a completely unisex style" in line with Acne’s philosophy, all available in several colors, subtly playing on the juxtaposition of various shades used in the frames and lenses.

Some models were unveiled with the fall/winter 2015-16 ready-to-wear collection, as well as during its women’s fashion show and menswear presentation.

The glasses are being sold between 260 and 340 euros. They were released on April 14 in 29 Acne Studios stores around the world, including in Paris, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles, as well as on acnestudios.com.
